As much as I would love to give you a simplified answer, it really depends on the individual as counselling is a highly personalised service.
Please feel free to book in the initial session to chat about what you would like support with and we can take it from there.
No. You can book an appointment straightaway. However, if you go to your GP and ask for a referral to a psychologist under a mental health care plan, you can receive up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.
You are booked in for 60 minutes. The talking time itself is 50 minutes. The extra 10 minutes is for note-taking, treatment planning, and writing communications to your GP (when needed).
As a privately-run practice, we do not receive any government assistance to bulk bill, therefore bulk-billing becomes unsustainable for us to keep our door open. However, Medicare rebates are available for clients with a GP referral.
A standard 50-minute session is $180 on weekdays between 9am-5pm and $200 for after hours (Saturday or after 5pm on weekdays).
A Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session is available with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and GP referral. The session fee is charged to you first. If you provide us with your Medicare details and referral prior to the first session, we can process Medicare rebates for you. Alternatively, you can claim directly from Medicare.
